Sales Forecasting

PiinPoint’s machine-learning approach to building sales prediction models, provides the user with a deep understanding of dynamics of the local market including potential store characteristics, the immediate market profile, the surrounding market profiles, the competition density and proximity to related retail.

Our model provides:

• Potential sales estimates at a new location from day 0 to maturity, at maturity, and from maturity onwards.
• We can further customize to predict sales at the department level allowing you to optimize your shelf space!

The sales prediction model goes beyond the point of view of the Marketmatch Analysis to be able to accurately give detailed predictions on potential performance of new locations.

Cannibalization (Sales Transfer Models)

Cannibalization predictions are combined with the sales forecasts to provide a full picture of the results (or net impact) of opening a location based on the parameters defining the surrounding market.

Our models provide:

• Cannibalization, or transfer model predictions in terms of % and $ impact to existing locations when an in-network event such as a location opening, closure, renovation, or relocation.

Network Simulations (“What if” Scenario)

Leveraging the core Sales Prediction and Cannibalization Prediction models, the user can:

• Simulate the net effect on network performance from a series of network changes (“scenario”) and provide total net sales change for the scenario.
• The events can include any combination of new store opening, closure, relocation, and renovation.

The PiinPoint team works closely with the client to build in business rules unique to the business to ensure that “real-world” constraints are imposed and the outcomes are relevant. 

Network Optimization

A Network Optimization solution provides a guiding set of locations that are theoretically optimal for the markets of interest.

Our model provides:

• Prediction on the optimal network size, identify white-space for growth, and divestiture options, leveraging trade area information, net sales predictions, competitive density, and location characteristics.
